Christian Kofane’s international appearance for Cameroon ended at half-time during the team’s 3-1 victory over Comoros, raising an early fitness concern for Bayer Leverkusen.
The 20-year-old striker reportedly felt discomfort in his thigh and was removed before the second half began. Cameroon coach David Pagou explained that the substitution was made as a precaution rather than because of a confirmed serious injury.
“He held his thigh; he felt a slight pull, and we did not want to take any risks,” Pagou said after the match, according to Foot Africa.
The initial information does not indicate how severe Kofane’s problem may be. Cameroon’s medical staff are expected to monitor him closely over the coming days before deciding whether he can continue with the national team.
The forward’s availability for Cameroon’s next match in Congo, scheduled for Tuesday, remains uncertain. Leverkusen will also be watching the situation carefully, particularly because Kofane has become a useful attacking option during the early stages of the campaign.
For now, there is no confirmed diagnosis or recovery timetable. Further medical checks should provide a clearer picture of the injury and determine whether Kofane can return to training soon.
