Christian Kabasele Injured in Pre-Season Friendly Ahead of Jupiler Pro League Restart
Christian Kabasele has suffered a setback just before the resumption of the Belgian Jupiler Pro League. The 22-year-old Belgian defender of Congolese descent was forced off during a warm-up match between his new club Racing Genk and CSKA Sofia on Tuesday evening.
Genk secured a 2-0 victory thanks to goals from Senegalese defender Kara Mbodji and Nigerian striker Kim Ojo, but the mood was dampened by Kabasele’s injury. The defender left the pitch with about fifteen minutes remaining, though the extent of his injury remains unclear.
Kabasele joined Genk this summer on a free transfer after a season with Eupen in Belgian second division. Before that, he had spells at FC Mechelen and Bulgarian side Ludogorets. The injury comes at an unfortunate time as Kabasele was looking to establish himself in the top tier with Genk.
Further updates on his condition are awaited.
