Christian Gomis: Senegalese-French midfielder linked with move to Malut United

Christian Gomis, the Senegalese-French defensive midfielder currently without a club, is being linked with a move to Indonesian Super League side Malut United. The 27-year-old, who left Thai outfit Uthai Thani at the start of July, is understood to be on the radar of the ambitious top-flight club as they look to strengthen their spine ahead of the new campaign.

Gomis, born in Dakar and standing at 2.02m, would be available without a transfer fee and is valued at around €400,000. His free-agent status is thought to make him an attractive target in a market where clubs are seeking experienced options without significant upfront costs.

The left-footed midfielder has built up a varied career across Europe and Asia, including spells in Hungary, Bulgaria and Thailand. Most recently, he featured regularly in the Thai League, making 57 appearances and contributing two goals and two assists, as well as gaining further experience in domestic cup competitions and regional tournaments.

Before moving to Thailand, Gomis had established himself in Eastern Europe, notably in Bulgaria’s top flight and Hungary’s NB I, amassing close to 100 league appearances across those two countries. His career also includes time in France’s lower divisions, where he came through the ranks and earned a move to Paris Saint-Germain’s B team.

For now, Gomis remains a free agent following his departure from Uthai Thani on 1 July 2026, with discussions over a potential switch to Malut United yet to progress to an advanced stage.
