Chris Smalling set to join Porto on free transfer, says Fabrizio Romano

Chris Smalling has agreed to join Porto, with the England defender expected to complete his move to the Portuguese club in the coming days.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reported that Porto have reached an agreement with Smalling and that the 35-year-old is due to undergo a medical on Wednesday before the deal is finalised.

Smalling will move to Porto as a free agent after his contract with Saudi Pro League side Al Feiha expired.

The defender made 67 appearances for Al Feiha, scoring four goals and providing one assist.

Smalling began his career with English club Maidstone before going on to play for Manchester United and Roma. His most recent spell was with Al Feiha in the Saudi Pro League.

Across his career with various clubs, Smalling has made 568 appearances, scoring 33 goals and recording eight assists.

During his time at Manchester United, he won the English Premier League twice, the English League Cup once, the Community Shield three times, the FA Cup once and the UEFA Europa League once.

He also won the UEFA Europa Conference League with Roma.

Porto currently lead the Portuguese league with 21 points from seven victories, maintaining a perfect record.
