Chris Gadi Signs for Atlético Clube de Portugal After Bulgarian Exit
French-Congolese forward Chris Gadi has completed a move to Atlético Clube de Portugal, marking a fresh chapter in his career after a stint in Bulgaria. The 23-year-old has signed a two-year deal with the Portuguese second-division side, according to reports from Footmercato.
Gadi, who was previously on the books at PFK Beroe Stara Zagora, opted to leave Bulgaria following his team’s elimination from the UEFA Europa League qualifiers. The transfer to Portugal offers the former French youth international an opportunity to revive his career in a new footballing environment.
“Chris signed a two-year contract with Atlético Clube. The club approached him with an ambitious plan to earn promotion this season. After Beroe’s European exit, Chris wanted a new experience and accepted the Portuguese challenge,” his agent Walid Bouchenafa told Footmercato.
A product of the Olympique de Marseille academy, Gadi made his professional debut with the Ligue 1 club before spells at US Boulogne and then a move abroad to Lokomotiv Plovdiv in Bulgaria. In 2014, he signed for Beroe, where he gained valuable European experience.
Now in Portugal, Gadi will aim to help Atlético Clube secure promotion to the top flight and re-establish himself in European football.
