Chris Bedia set for Union Berlin return

Chris Bedia is expected to return to Union Berlin after his loan spell at BSC Young Boys, with reports in Germany saying the Swiss club are likely to let their purchase option expire.

That would mark a change from March, when Young Boys were still leaning toward a permanent deal for the 30-year-old striker and the agreed fee was reported to be around €2.5 million.

The latest update suggests the club has reconsidered, partly because they missed out on European qualification and also because they want to lean more on Samuel Essende, who joined from Augsburg in the winter.

Bedia still leaves Switzerland with strong numbers, having scored 17 goals in the season and finishing as the league’s second-top scorer.

His future at Union, however, remains unclear. He joined the Berlin club in 2024 but has already been sent out on loan twice, first to Hull City and then to Young Boys, and his contract runs until 2027.

For now, the story points toward a return to Köpenick, even if Union still has a decision to make about his long-term role.
