Zambia’s national football team, the Chipolopolo, have returned home after securing a crucial 1-0 victory against Chad in their AFCON 2025 Group G qualifier. The victory, achieved in Yaoundé, Cameroon, boosted Zambia’s position in the standings as they aim to secure a place in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be held in Morocco.

With this win, Zambia now has seven points, holding firm in second place in their group, just behind Ivory Coast, who lead with nine points.

The victory has kept Zambia well within reach of qualification for the prestigious tournament, with their focus now shifting to maintaining momentum in the remaining group stage fixtures.

Sierra Leone currently occupies third place in the group with four points, while Chad remains at the bottom with just two points.

Despite Chad’s home advantage, the Chipolopolo managed to outplay their opponents, earning three crucial points that could prove vital in the race for qualification.

Zambia’s narrow win over Chad was critical in keeping their AFCON hopes alive.

As the team returned home aboard a chartered flight, there was a sense of determination and cautious optimism about their chances of qualifying for the Morocco-hosted tournament.

The Chipolopolo’s performance in Group G has been solid, but there is still work to be done as the competition in the group remains fierce.

Ivory Coast continues to lead the group, showing consistent form throughout the qualifiers.

However, Zambia’s latest victory ensures they stay hot on the heels of the group leaders, with qualification still very much within their grasp.

The Chipolopolo will need to capitalize on their recent form and ensure they secure maximum points in their upcoming matches to maintain their second-place position.

The team’s journey back to Zambia was marked by the satisfaction of a job well done but also the awareness that tougher challenges lie ahead.

The match against Chad was closely contested, with the Chipolopolo having to dig deep to come away with the win.

A single goal was enough to secure the three points, but Zambia’s defense also played a pivotal role in ensuring they kept a clean sheet.

The victory in Yaoundé was particularly important given the unpredictable nature of Group G, where every point counts in the race to secure one of the top two spots for AFCON qualification.

While Zambia remains second in the group, they cannot afford to be complacent, as Sierra Leone is still within striking distance, and the upcoming matches will determine which teams move forward to the continental finals.

As the Chipolopolo look ahead to the rest of their qualifying campaign, the team’s management and players are well aware that the competition will only intensify.

Head coach Avram Grant has emphasized the importance of staying focused and continuing to build on the team’s recent success.

The Zambian squad, bolstered by a mix of seasoned veterans and promising young talents, has shown resilience throughout the qualifying rounds, but consistency will be key in their quest to secure a place at AFCON 2025.

The team’s upcoming fixtures will provide further opportunities to solidify their standing in Group G and potentially overtake Ivory Coast at the top of the table.

With momentum on their side, the Chipolopolo are eager to continue their campaign and bring the dream of AFCON qualification closer to reality.
