Chinese police have launched a comprehensive investigation into the tragic death of Gabonese player Aaron Boupendza, who died after falling from the 11th floor of his flat in Hangzhou, where he had been living while playing for Chinese Super League side Zhejiang FC.

The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, has made authorities wonder seriously and request law enforcement to probe three possible causes: suicide, accidental fall, or homicide.

It has been reported that Boupendza had an altercation with his brother moments before the fall.

His brother was in the apartment when this happened as well, and police are interviewing him now as a person of interest to determine if the brawl could have possibly had something to do with the assault.

Arrests haven’t been made but foul play hasn’t been ruled out, police have announced.

Boupendza reportedly missed his club’s last training session without warning, and Zhejiang FC officials had not been able to reach him.

The news of his passing was a devastating shock to teammates and supporters around the world.

As the investigation unfolds, Chinese police are working closely with forensic experts and witnesses to piece together the circumstances of his tragic demise.

The international football fraternity holds its breath for answers as it mourns the loss of a talented sportsman whose life and career were cut short much too early.

In an exclusive interview, the Togo international said he has a point to prove this term after struggling for game time under former coach Thierry Froger. “I feel good compared to last year when I played very little and the coach had very little confidence in me,” the 28-year-old told AfricaSoccer.com. “Today, I have all the cards in hand to prove my talent. It was up to me to show him and everyone else that I was better than that.” Amewou believes new manager Victor Zvunka, who returned

Paul Onuachu was substituted midway through the second half as Southampton secured a 1-1 draw away to West Ham United in Saturday’s Premier League clash. The Nigerian international, making his 23rd appearance of the season, began the match in Southampton’s attack but was taken off in the 68th minute, replaced by Cameron Archer.
