Asamoah Gyan Strikes from Distance as Shanghai SIPG Held by Henan Jianye
Ghanaian striker Asamoah Gyan delivered a moment of brilliance for Shanghai SIPG, scoring a spectacular long-range goal just minutes after coming on as a second-half substitute in a Chinese Super League fixture against Henan Jianye.
Introduced in the 57th minute in place of Brazilian midfielder Davi, the 29-year-old forward wasted little time making an impact. Gyan unleashed a powerful strike from 25 metres out, handing Shanghai a 2-1 lead and igniting hopes of a crucial victory in the title race.
However, Shanghai SIPG were unable to hold their advantage, conceding late on to settle for a 2-2 draw. The result leaves the club second in the table, just one point behind leaders Guangzhou Evergrande, who currently sit on 47 points.
Gyan’s impressive performance further underlines his value to the Chinese side, as he continues to find form following his high-profile move to the Super League.
