Chicago Fire coach Gregg Berhalter hails South African winger Puso Dithejane
South African international Puso Dithejane has been singled out as the standout performer in Chicago Fire FC’s 3-1 victory over D.C. United, with head coach Gregg Berhalter hailing the midfielder’s decisive impact from the bench.
Dithejane, who joined Chicago Fire in January from TS Galaxy, was introduced in the 63rd minute and immediately changed the rhythm of the game in favour of the MLS side.
The coach praised the former Kaizer Chiefs youth product for his influence in turning the match around, crediting his energy and attacking intent for helping secure the win.
In recognition of his performance, Dithejane was publicly commended in front of the entire squad after the final whistle and was also handed the match ball as a reward for his standout display.
The young midfielder was later given an opportunity to address his teammates, where he expressed gratitude for the trust shown in him and promised to continue delivering decisive, match-winning performances whenever called upon.
Since joining the club in the winter, the 21 year-old attacker has made seven appearances in the Major Soccer League.
