Morocco star Chemsdine Talbi in three-way transfer battle between Galatasaray, Besiktas and Al-Ittihad

Morocco international Chemsdine Talbi could be set for a move away from Sunderland before the transfer window closes, with Galatasaray, Besiktas and Al-Ittihad all reportedly competing for his signature.

The future of the 21-year-old winger remains uncertain as clubs in Turkey and Saudi Arabia explore the possibility of securing his services.

Belgian transfer journalist Sacha Tavolieri says no decision has yet been made over Talbi’s next destination.

“Race for Chemsdine Talbi wide open. Galatasaray, Besiktas, & Al-Ittihad are among the options, but no destination has been decided upon at this moment,” Tavolieri wrote on X on Wednesday.

Move away from Sunderland remains the priority

With transfer deadlines approaching, efforts are reportedly continuing to find Talbi a new club.

“What is certain is that the goal is to move the Moroccan player before the transfer windows close,” he added.

Talbi’s potential departure would bring an end to his time at Sunderland after a campaign in which he demonstrated his ability in English football.

During the 2025-26 season, the winger made 30 appearances across all competitions and scored four goals.

He featured in 28 Premier League matches and memorably scored a late winner against Chelsea.

World Cup performances raise Talbi’s profile

Talbi’s growing reputation was further strengthened by his performances for Morocco at the 2026 Fifa World Cup.

The winger made five appearances during the tournament, initially featuring mainly as an impact substitute before earning a starting place in Morocco’s semi-final against France.

He played an important role during the Atlas Lions’ knockout campaign, delivering a late cross that led to Issa Diop’s equalising header against the Netherlands and forced the match into extra time.

Talbi also converted his penalty during Morocco’s eventual shootout victory.

His performances on the global stage have increased his profile and made his next club decision particularly significant for Moroccan football followers.

Turkey or Saudi Arabia?

Galatasaray and Besiktas could offer Talbi the opportunity to continue playing in European football, while Al-Ittihad would provide the prospect of joining the growing Saudi Pro League.

A move to Al-Ittihad could also see him link up with fellow Morocco international Youssef En-Nesyri.

At just 21, Talbi faces an important decision at a crucial stage of his career.

Having already shown his potential in the Premier League and on the World Cup stage, the Moroccan winger will now have to decide which destination offers the best opportunity to establish himself as a regular starter.
