Cheltenham bring in England-Ghana striker Kirsten Otchere from Leicester on loan

England-Ghana forward Kirsten Otchere has joined Cheltenham from Leicester U21 on loan in a move that takes the 19-year-old centre-forward into League Two.

Otchere’s loan runs until 31 May 2027, when he is scheduled to return to Leicester U21. No transfer fee has been disclosed for the move.

The teenager arrives at Cheltenham having spent the 2025-26 season with Leicester’s development side, after stepping up from Leicester U18 in July 2025. He has now made the switch to a club competing in the English Football League, with Cheltenham adding a young attacker to their squad for the 2026-27 campaign.

Otchere scored nine goals and provided three assists in 19 Premier League 2 appearances. He also registered goals in the Premier League Cup, Premier League International Cup Under-21 competition and National League Cup, finishing with 26 goals across 63 recorded appearances in the competitions listed during his time in Leicester’s youth and development setup.

His most productive campaign came in the Under-18 Premier League, where he scored 14 goals and supplied three assists in 34 appearances. Those figures, alongside his Premier League 2 record, account for the majority of his competitive experience before his move to Cheltenham.

The forward’s arrival gives the League Two club a player whose recorded experience has come primarily through Leicester’s academy pathway. Otchere joined Leicester U21 from the club’s Under-18 team at the beginning of July 2025 and remained with the development squad until the loan move was completed on 4 August 2026.

Born on 6 October 2006, Otchere is eligible to represent both England and Ghana. His listed role is centre-forward, placing him at the focal point of Cheltenham’s attacking options during the temporary agreement.

The transfer was completed on 4 August 2026, with Otchere joining Cheltenham from Leicester U21 on loan through to the end of May 2027.
