Kurt Zouma Embraces Premier League Challenge at Chelsea
At just 19 years old, Kurt Zouma is embarking on a steep learning curve after his winter transfer from AS Saint-Étienne to Chelsea. The young centre-back spoke candidly on Thursday about the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead at Stamford Bridge.
Joining a defence led by seasoned veterans John Terry, Gary Cahill, and Branislav Ivanović, Zouma is well aware of the competition for places but remains undeterred. “The adaptation has been difficult but I think I’ll play this season even if José Mourinho hasn’t promised me anything,” he told Le Progrès.
“The defenders here are superb players, but honestly, there isn’t a player in this squad that I don’t find impressive,” he added. “The competition doesn’t worry me. I’m young and I know very well what I have to do to earn my place on the pitch.”
Zouma’s determination to establish himself in one of Europe’s toughest leagues highlights both his ambition and confidence as he navigates his first season in the Premier League.
