Chelsea have reportedly turned down an offer from Borussia Dortmund to sign France forward of Congolese descent Christopher Nkunku on loan this summer.
The English Premier League outfit only wants to transfer the attacker on a permanent deal.
Borussia Dortmund are actively searching for attacking reinforcements ahead of the new season, ideally targeting a player who can operate both as a No. 10 and on the wings. Nkunku, a familiar face in the Bundesliga following his successful spell at RB Leipzig, has emerged as a potential candidate.
According to sources, Dortmund submitted a loan proposal for Nkunku. However, Chelsea quickly turned down the offer, making it clear they’re only entertaining permanent deals.
Nkunku, 27, has also attracted interest from other top clubs including Manchester United, Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest, and Bayern Munich. While Dortmund could still enter the race, they would need to revise their stance and consider a full transfer.
Interestingly, The Athletic recently reported that Chelsea have significantly lowered their asking price for Nkunku and are willing to part ways for a fee in the region of €30 million.
With his ability to play across the front line, Nkunku remains a highly valued asset this summer.
