Senegalese striker Nicolas Jackson is set for a return to Chelsea after his loan spell with Bayern Munich failed to live up to expectations.
What was initially presented as a high-profile and ambitious project when the move was completed on deadline day in 2025 is now approaching an early conclusion, with the Senegalese forward expected to leave Munich at the end of the season.
Reports indicate that Jackson will not remain at Bayern beyond the summer, bringing an end to his time at Säbener Straße.
The agreement between the two clubs included an obligation to buy, but that clause will no longer be activated. Having fallen short of the required threshold of nearly 40 competitive appearances of at least 45 minutes each, the mandatory purchase will instead be converted into a non-binding option, reportedly valued at €65 million.
While his chapter in Germany appears to be closing, a new possibility is emerging back in London. Chelsea are said to be preparing to reintegrate Jackson into their plans, offering him a second chance to revive his career at Stamford Bridge.
The change in outlook follows a managerial reshuffle, with Liam Rosenior taking over from Enzo Maresca as head coach.
According to reports in the English media, the new Chelsea boss is keen to inject fresh energy into the squad and is open to reassessing Jackson’s role within the team.
After an underwhelming spell in Munich, the striker could now be handed an opportunity to reset and prove his value once again in familiar surroundings, as Chelsea look ahead to a new phase under different leadership.
