Mohamed Salah may be facing a difficult start to life at Chelsea, but the Egyptian winger insists he is determined to fight for his place in José Mourinho’s star-studded squad.
The 22-year-old arrived at Stamford Bridge from FC Basel in January amid high expectations, but has so far struggled to secure regular playing time. Currently behind Diego Costa, Loïc Rémy, and Didier Drogba in Chelsea’s attacking hierarchy, Salah has found minutes on the pitch hard to come by.
However, the Egyptian international remains undeterred and focused on making his mark at the London club.
“I know it’s not easy to play every game at a club like Chelsea because we have so many good players in my area,” Salah told Chelsea’s official website. “But I hope I get the chance to prove that I work hard.”
Despite limited opportunities, Salah holds no regrets about joining the Premier League giants. He remains positive about his future in blue.
“This move was a fantastic move for me,” he added. “Having the opportunity to join such a club is a great opportunity, and I hope I can play here for a good while.”
With striker Diego Costa sidelined due to injury, Salah could soon be handed the opportunity he has been patiently waiting for. Mourinho may look to rotate his squad in the coming fixtures, especially with Chelsea competing on multiple fronts, including the Champions League and domestic cup competitions.
Salah’s pace, direct style, and eye for goal were key reasons behind his signing, after impressing against Chelsea in European competition during his time in Switzerland. Though his impact at Stamford Bridge has been limited so far, both fans and staff remain hopeful that he can adapt to the demands of the Premier League.
As Chelsea continue to push for silverware, Salah’s perseverance and professionalism may yet see him become a more prominent figure in the club’s future plans.
