Chelsea rekindle interest in Victor Osimhen

Chelsea have reportedly revived their long-standing interest in Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen ahead of the summer transfer window.

Osimhen, currently starring for Galatasaray S.K., remains one of the most highly sought-after forwards in European football, with Chelsea monitoring his situation closely after previously exploring a potential move in earlier transfer windows.

The London club are said to be assessing several attacking profiles as they prepare for a decisive recruitment phase this summer, with Osimhen’s proven goal-scoring record making him a standout target once again.

However, any potential deal is expected to be extremely complicated due to Galatasaray’s firm stance on retaining their marquee striker.

The Turkish giants are reportedly unwilling to entertain negotiations unless their valuation is fully met, with sources indicating that the club would demand in the region of €100 million (£87.1m / $116.3m) to consider sanctioning a transfer.

Galatasaray view Osimhen as a central figure in their long-term ambitions, particularly as they continue to compete domestically and aim to strengthen their presence in European competitions. His importance to the squad has only increased following a prolific campaign in front of goal.

The Nigerian international has enjoyed another exceptional season in Turkey, scoring 22 goals in just 29 appearances across all competitions. His consistent output has reinforced his reputation as one of the most clinical and complete strikers in world football.

Osimhen’s combination of pace, power, movement, and finishing ability has made him a constant threat to defences, and his performances have once again placed him at the centre of transfer speculation involving top European clubs.

For Chelsea, the interest comes as the club continues its search for a reliable, high-level striker capable of leading the line in the Premier League and returning the team to consistent goal-scoring form. Despite significant investment in attacking talent in recent seasons, the club is still believed to be prioritising a proven No. 9.

Osimhen’s profile fits that requirement, offering both immediate impact and long-term value, though the financial demands from Galatasaray present a major obstacle.

With the summer transfer window approaching, negotiations—if they progress beyond initial interest—are expected to be complex, with Chelsea weighing the cost against alternative targets in the market.

For now, Galatasaray remain confident of keeping their star man, but Osimhen’s continued form ensures that speculation around his future is unlikely to disappear anytime soon.
