Chelsea no longer pursuing move to sign English-Ivorian defender Marc Guehi
English Premier League outfit Chelsea have abandoned their interest in signing English defender of Ivorian descent, Marc Guehi.
The 25-year-old Crystal Palace centre-back, whose contract runs until the summer of 2026, was seen as a potential target for the Blues as they looked to bolster their defensive options.
However, according to the Express, Chelsea have now withdrawn from the race despite head coach Enzo Maresca’s admiration for the England international.
Guehi, who came through Chelsea’s youth system before moving to Palace, has attracted attention from several top clubs across Europe.
Liverpool were among those interested and reportedly made an attempt to sign him during the summer of 2025, but Palace boss Oliver Glasner blocked the move.
In addition to Liverpool, other heavyweight clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan, and Juventus, have also been linked with the defender.
For now, Guehi remains a key figure at Crystal Palace, though his long-term future continues to generate significant interest ahead of his contract’s expiry in 2026.
Palace want the defender to stay and plans to tie him down to a long-term contract.
