Chelsea are being linked with a move for Bayer Leverkusen’s teenage centre-forward Christian Kofane, according to fresh transfer speculation in Germany.
The 19-year-old Cameroonian, valued at €40.00m on Transfermarkt, is reported to be on the radar of the Premier League side as they assess striking options ahead of the next window. The move is currently classed as a rumour, with the probability of a deal described as “?” and no agreement in place between the clubs.
Kofane only joined Leverkusen from Spanish side Albacete Balompié in July 2025, having first moved to Europe via Albacete’s U19s from AS Nylon in Cameroon in late 2024. His rapid rise has been mirrored by an extraordinary jump in market value: from €200,000 in March 2025 at Albacete to €5m by June, then €12m and €22m after his arrival in the Bundesliga, before reaching €40m in March 2026.
The 1.89m right-footed striker, born in Douala on 26 July 2006, wears the number 35 shirt for Leverkusen and is listed in his main role as an attack-minded centre-forward. He is currently tied to the Bundesliga club with no publicly available contract expiry date, meaning there is no indication he is close to becoming a free agent or that his contract has expired.
No transfer fee has yet been reported in connection with Chelsea’s interest, and the London club are only said to be monitoring the player at this stage. There is also no detailed data yet on his most recent individual match performance, such as opponent, date, scoreline or contribution.
With his value climbing and his reputation growing in Germany after his move from Spain, a switch to Stamford Bridge would represent a significant next step and could prove decisive in shaping Kofane’s career trajectory and standing in European football if it eventually materialises.
