Chelsea leading race to sign Jamie Gittens but must prepare to spend big

Jamie Bynoe Gittens

English Premier League side Chelsea are reportedly leading the race to sign talented youngster Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund.

The England-born forward with African roots established himself as one of the most exciting wingers in the early part of the 2024/25 football season.

However, in recent months, Jamie Gittens’ form has nosedived, leaving many to wonder what might have went wrong.

Despite his current situation, Borussia Dortmund holds him in high esteem and does not doubt his quality.

As a result, although the club is willing to listen to offers for Jamie Gittens, the club will only sanction a transfer for the right price.

Several clubs have already reportedly contacted Dortmund for the winger.

Chelsea are among the clubs believed to be keen on signing the forward and have now emerged as the favourites to land his signature.

However, the club must be prepared to spend big for the winger. Dortmund want to earn as much as 100 million euros from the sale of the attacker although bids of around 75 million euros will be considered.

Chelsea are believed to have a good relationship with the agent of the player and may leverage that to seal the deal to bring Gittens to Stamford Bridge during the summer transfer window.
