Cesc Fabregas’s move to Chelsea is now official! After much speculation, the Spanish midfielder has signed a five-year contract with the London club. The transfer fee is reportedly around €30 million plus €3 million in bonuses.
Fabregas spent his early years at Arsenal from 2003 to 2011 before moving to Barcelona, where he played for three years. Now, he’s back in the Premier League with Chelsea, a club he believes matches his ambition to win trophies.
In his own words, Fabregas expressed gratitude to Barcelona, calling it “the club of my childhood,” but said he felt it was the right time to return to England, specifically London. Interestingly, Arsenal had a chance to bring him back but chose not to, which left Chelsea as his preferred destination.
With Chelsea’s strong squad and experienced manager, Fabregas is excited to begin this new chapter and compete at the highest level once again, just in time for the World Cup with Spain.
