Chelsea faces a crucial decision regarding who will lead their attack in the Champions League quarter-final second leg against PSG at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday. While Fernando Torres appears to be the frontrunner, Samuel Eto’o is not entirely ruled out, as indicated by José Mourinho following Chelsea’s league victory against Stoke City (3-0) on Saturday.
Eto’o has been sidelined due to injury since March 22, when he sustained a hamstring injury during Chelsea’s defeat to Arsenal (6-0). He was absent in the first leg against PSG and has been undergoing rehabilitation since. However, he is expected to return to training on Monday, on the eve of the crucial match against PSG.
Jose Mourinho remains cautious regarding Eto’o’s potential participation, stating, “I might keep him for this match.” He emphasized the need for caution, highlighting that risking Eto’o prematurely could be counterproductive. Mourinho is keen on ensuring that Eto’o meets the necessary conditions and minimizes any potential risks before considering his inclusion in the squad.
