League Cup: Drogba Strikes Again as Chelsea Advance, Liverpool Leave It Late
Didier Drogba continued his fine form, scoring once again in Chelsea’s 2–1 victory over Shrewsbury Town FC in the fourth round of the League Cup. After converting a penalty in the Blues’ 6–0 Champions League win over Maribor and netting against Manchester United in the Premier League, the Ivorian legend struck again on Tuesday to help Chelsea progress to the next round.
Meanwhile, Liverpool left it very late at Anfield. The Reds needed a 95th-minute winner to edge past Swansea City 2–1, in a tense affair that kept the home crowd on edge until the final whistle.
Tuesday’s League Cup 4th Round Results:
Shrewsbury Town 1–2 Chelsea
Bournemouth 2–1 West Bromwich Albion
Milton Keynes Dons 1–2 Sheffield United
Fulham 2–5 Derby County
Liverpool 2–1 Swansea City
Chelsea and Liverpool now join Derby, Sheffield United, and Bournemouth in the next stage of the competition, with more drama expected as the tournament progresses.
