In a playful analogy, Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho compared his players to eggs, classifying them into different grades. He stated, “At the supermarket, you have class 1, 2, or 3 eggs. Some are more expensive than others and some make better omelettes. When grade 1 eggs are at Waitrose (a high street brand) and you can’t go there, then that’s a problem.” Mourinho further elaborated, saying, “I have wonderful young eggs, eggs that need a mother, a father in this case, to take care of them, keep them warm during the winter and help them progress. And one day the time comes when the weather is nice, we break the eggs and they are ready to move forward in life at the highest level.” However, he didn’t specify which players fall into class 1, 2, or 3, perhaps to avoid causing offense.
