Senegalese defender Cheikh Koité joins Anderlecht’s RSCA Futures

Senegalese left-back Cheikh Koité has joined Anderlecht’s U23 side, RSCA Futures, after spending one season in France with FBBP 01.

The 22-year-old defender has signed a two-year contract with the Belgian club, with the option of extending the agreement for a further season.

Koité will compete with RSCA Futures in the Challenger Pro League, Belgium’s second tier, as he continues his development after making his first move to European football.

He arrived at FBBP 01 in the summer of 2025 from Senegalese side Étoile Lusitana and spent just one campaign in the French league.

During his only season in France, Koité made 28 National appearances, starting 25 of those matches. He also contributed one assist.

His performances have now earned him a move to Anderlecht, where he will join the club’s U23 setup.

RSCA Futures provides a pathway for young players looking to progress from academy football towards the senior first team.

Koité’s move will give him the chance to continue gaining experience at a competitive level while working towards a potential step up to Anderlecht’s senior side.

The Belgian club is known for its focus on developing young players, providing Koité with another opportunity to build on the experience he gained during his first season in France.

Before moving to France, Koité developed in Senegal. He trained at SC Teranga before joining Étoile Lusitana, where he continued his progression before making the switch to FBBP 01 in 2025.

His move to RSCA Futures represents another stage in that progression, with the defender now set to experience Belgian football for the first time.

Koité’s immediate focus will be on adapting to his new surroundings and continuing his development with Anderlecht’s U23 team in the Challenger Pro League.

After playing in Senegal and France, the left-back will now begin a new chapter in Belgium as he looks to establish himself at RSCA Futures and take another step towards senior football.
