Chec Bebel Doumbia: Burkina Faso midfielder at Genoa linked with FC Rapid 1923 move

Burkina Faso midfielder Chec Bebel Doumbia of Genoa is being linked with a summer move to Romanian side FC Rapid 1923 in the SuperLiga.

The 18-year-old central midfielder, who stands at 1.93m and plays predominantly with his right foot, is under contract with the Serie A club until 30 June 2030, meaning any deal would require Rapid to negotiate a transfer fee rather than explore a free move. Doumbia is currently valued in the region of €400,000, a figure likely to frame initial discussions between the clubs.

Doumbia spent part of last season on loan at Team Altamura, where he made 22 appearances and scored once in Serie C Group C, accumulating 1,115 minutes of league football. He had earlier featured for Genoa’s under-20 side and also played in the Viareggio Cup, where he appeared four times.

The midfielder’s path to Genoa included a permanent move from Team Altamura to the Ligurian club’s youth ranks in January 2026, followed by a loan back to the Serie C side a day later. That loan concluded at the end of June 2026, with Doumbia returning to Genoa ahead of the new campaign.

With Genoa now assessing his next step and Rapid looking to reinforce in central midfield, talks around Doumbia’s future are expected to focus on whether he remains within the Serie A club’s plans or is allowed to depart despite his long-term deal running to 2030.
