Burkina Faso’s iconic Stade du 4 Août has officially reopened its doors after extensive renovations, marking a significant milestone for Burkinabe football.

The occasion was celebrated on Monday with a gala match that brought together African football legends and the nation’s Defense and Security Forces, symbolizing unity and pride within the sporting community.

Among the prominent figures present was Charles Kaboré, the official ambassador of Burkinabe football, who could not hide his emotion as he stepped onto the revitalized pitch.

The former national team captain, who has been a vocal advocate for the stadium’s renovation, shared his profound joy following the event.

It is an honor to walk on this pitch again, Kaboré told our reporter Stephane Bassalia Ouattara. I would like to salute the vision of the President, His Excellency Captain Ibrahim Traoré, as well as that of the Prime Minister and the entire government. A special mention goes to the Minister of Sports, who spared no effort: he remained mobilized day and night, exchanging ideas tirelessly.

Kaboré, whose illustrious career has taken him across top European leagues, emphasized the significance of the refurbished stadium for future generations.

He expressed gratitude towards the construction team for their relentless dedication to delivering a world-class facility, ensuring that Burkina Faso’s national team, the Stallions, now have a fitting arena to match their ambitions.

I also salute the company that worked tirelessly to ensure that we have this jewel today to serve our Stallions, Kaboré continued. A big thank you also to the living legends who came to support us and accompany us for the inauguration of our beautiful legendary stadium.

The reopening of Stade du 4 Août is viewed as a pivotal step in reviving Burkina Faso’s footballing infrastructure.

The venue, which holds deep historical significance, has been modernized to meet international standards, rekindling hopes of hosting major continental fixtures in the near future.

For the fans, players, and football legends alike, the reopening of Stade du 4 Août was not just a sporting event, but a celebration of national pride and a powerful symbol of Burkina Faso’s enduring spirit.
