Sporting Anderlecht defender Chancel Mbemba has been voted the best player of the month for October in the Jupiler Pro League, according to an announcement by RSCA (Royal Sporting Club Anderlecht) on Twitter.
The 19-year-old Congolese player played a crucial role in Anderlecht’s recovery during the last month. After a season start where they scored as many goals as they conceded, Anderlecht found defensive stability, conceding only two goals in the league throughout October. Playing both as a left-back and central defender, Chancel Mbemba also contributed to Anderlecht’s offensive play, including scoring a goal in the victory against Mons (0-2).
After 14 rounds of the championship, RSC Anderlecht currently holds the 4th place in the standings with 28 points, trailing the leader, KRC Genk, by 4 points.
