CHAN 2025: Ten-man Kenya show resilience to hold Angola to a 1-1 draw

Kenya showed impressive resilience on Thursday evening, holding Angola to a 1-1 draw in the 2024 CAF TotalEnergies Africa Nations Championship (CHAN).

The national teams of the two countries locked horns today in their second Group A match of the ongoing tournament.

In the game played at Moi International Sports Centre in Nairobi, Angola had the brightest start to the game and scored after just seven minutes into the first half.

Joaquim Paciencia netted the goal after he was set up by Beni.

However, it didn’t take Kenya long to get back into the game. The side was awarded a penalty kick in the 12th minute. Augustine Odhiambo stepped up and scored to restore parity to the match.

Unfortunately for Kenya, the team was reduced to 10 men in the 21st minute when Marvin Nabwire was shown a red card.

Despite the draw, Kenya remains top in Group A with Angola fourth on the table with a point.
