Congo and Sudan shared the spoils on Tuesday afternoon after a 1-1 draw in their opening Group D fixture at the 2025 TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The national teams of the two countries locked horns today at Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar City, determined to fight for all three points to kick off the tournament on a bright note.
In the pulsating encounter between the two teams, Sudan opened the scoring after just 29 minutes into the first half.
Musa Hussein Musa Ali scored with a brilliant strike to shoot the Sudanese into the lead.
While that goal separated the two sides at halftime, Congo came in guns blazing in the second half in a bid to turn things around.
After several attempts, the team finally found the breakthrough in the 86th minute through an equaliser from Brudet Okana.
Congo later scored in injury time, but it was disallowed for offside.
Later this evening, defending champions Senegal will face off with Nigeria in the second Group D match of the day.
