The tournament winner will now take home a stunning $3.5 million, reflecting a 75% increase, as part of CAF’s strategy to bolster African football’s appeal and global competitiveness.
Adding to the excitement, the total prize pool for CHAN 2024 has been raised by 32%, reaching $10.4 million. This strategic investment underscores CAF’s commitment to nurturing Africa-based players and amplifying the tournament’s allure for fans, broadcasters, and sponsors worldwide.
CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe remarked on the significance of this development: “The CHAN is an important competition for the development and growth of Africa-based football players and talented young players… This competition is part of our strategy of investing in African football.”
Set to kick off on February 1, 2025, the championship will feature 17 qualified nations, with two additional spots up for grabs. The final is slated for February 28, 2025, promising thrilling football action across East Africa.
