Madagascar coach Romuald Rôrô Rakotondrabe has admitted his side are underdogs as they prepare to face Sudan in the African Nations Championship semi-final.
Speaking on the eve of Tuesday’s clash at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Rakotondrabe praised the Jediane Falcons’ form, conceding they pose a serious challenge.
If you’ve seen Sudan’s matches, this country has just been drawn in a really difficult group, he said. I think they are a really, really strong team.
Sudan topped Group D ahead of Senegal and Nigeria, underlining their strength and consistency.
Their performances have marked them out as one of the competition’s most difficult sides to beat.
Rakotondrabe, while stressing humility, urged his team to rise to the occasion. We are not favourites this time, he admitted, underlining the scale of the task his players face.
The semi-final kicks off at 14:30 GMT, with Madagascar needing their best display of the tournament to upset the odds.
