The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a significant boost in the prize money for the 2024 TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN).
In an official statement released on January 7, CAF revealed a 75% increase in the winner’s prize money, with the champions now set to receive USD 3.5 million.
CAF also confirmed an overall increase in the tournament’s prize pool, raising the total prize money to USD 10.4 million, marking a 32% hike compared to the previous edition.
This enhancement underscores the governing body’s commitment to elevating the profile and rewards of African football.
The 2024 CHAN tournament, hosted jointly by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, is scheduled to commence on Saturday, February 1, 2025, with the final slated for Friday, February 28, 2025.
Seventeen teams have already secured their places in the competition and will be joined by two additional nations to complete the lineup. The qualified teams include:
- Hosts: Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda
- Other qualified nations: Morocco, Guinea, Senegal, Mauritania, Niger, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Congo, Sudan, Zambia, Angola, and Madagascar.
