As the host nation for the 2020 African Nations Championship (CHAN), Cameroon is stepping into the spotlight. Exempt from the qualifying rounds, the A’ team had been largely inactive for some time, but preparations officially resumed yesterday.
The first training camp for the local squad marks the beginning of their build-up for the continental tournament. Originally planned to run from November 11th to 24th in Yaoundé, the camp got underway on Monday, with the opening session held at the Annexe N1 stadium.
Head coach Yves Clément Arroga has called up 25 players for this initial gathering. During the camp, the coaching staff will begin making tactical adjustments and evaluating the squad ahead of the competition.
According to the Cameroonian Football Federation, CHAN 2020 is scheduled to take place from April 4th to 25th, although these dates are still subject to confirmation by CAF. This tournament represents an important opportunity for local talent to showcase their skills on a continental stage.
