Michel Dussuyer Praises Ivory Coast’s Character After Quarter-Final Qualification at CHAN 2016
Michel Dussuyer is a satisfied coach after Ivory Coast’s recent performance in the 2016 CHAN. Following a disappointing defeat to Rwanda in the tournament’s opening match, the Elephants bounced back impressively, securing a place in the quarter-finals. Their latest triumph came on Sunday with a convincing 4-1 victory over Gabon.
Speaking after the match, Dussuyer highlighted the significance of the win for team morale. “Morally, this victory, both in style and in result, does us a lot of good. It is the mark of a team that showed character throughout the competition and that continued to work after the first defeat against Rwanda,” he said.
The Ivory Coast coach emphasized that the toughest challenges lie ahead in the knockout stage. He hopes his players will maintain the same determination and focus that brought them back from an early setback.
“I hope my players will continue at the same pace. They have now reached maturity. I congratulate them all and now I hope they approach our quarter-final with the same state of mind. This victory brings with it future great performances,” Dussuyer added.
With morale high and confidence restored, the Elephants are preparing to face their quarter-final opponents, aiming to carry the momentum forward and continue their strong showing in CHAN 2016.
