There is a current crisis in Harare as the referees assigned to officiate the first leg of the CHAN 2014 match between Zimbabwe and Zambia have not yet arrived, even though the match is scheduled to start in an hour. The Cameroonian referees appointed for the game have not reached the Zimbabwean capital. The general secretary of the Zambian Football Federation, Erick Mwanza, expressed concern on Twitter, stating, “Drama in Harare: ZIFA failed to accommodate match officials in time for Zambia v Zim kick-off. CHAN match in danger.” The situation is challenging for the Zambian Football Federation, especially considering that the Chipolopolo team is scheduled to fly to Paris after the match for a friendly against Senegal on Wednesday.
