In Cairo, the headquarters of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the draw for the 3rd edition of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) is set to take place on Wednesday. This competition is exclusively for players participating in local championships within the continent. South Africa is slated to host the event from January 11 to February 1 next year.
In anticipation of the draw, the seeded teams for the different groups have been revealed. The host country, South Africa, will be placed in Group A, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) in Group B, Ghana in Group C, and Zimbabwe in Group D.
The remaining 12 countries qualified for the tournament will discover their opponents during the draw. These nations include Burkina Faso, Burundi, Congo, Ethiopia, Gabon, Libya, Mali, Morocco, Mauritania, Nigeria, Uganda, and Mozambique.
Tunisia holds the current championship title as the defending champions of CHAN. The draw will set the stage for an exciting competition that showcases the talent of players from local leagues across the African continent.
