Mali’s coach expressed satisfaction with the draw achieved by his team against South Africa on the second day of the group stage of CHAN 2014. Djibril Dramé sees the 1-1 result as a positive outcome, particularly since they were up against the host nation.
“When a match ends 1-1, the team that equalizes feels like they are more successful than the team that scored first. So a good draw against the organizing country,” stated Djibril Dramé in an interview with the Caf website.
He also expressed some regret regarding the officiating, mentioning, “To have fewer regrets, I would have preferred our penalty to be valid. I’m not here to criticize the referee.”
Looking ahead, Dramé is focused on the next match against Mozambique, emphasizing the need for careful preparation. “I will continue to prepare my team for the next match against Mozambique. A team that I follow closely, and I will prepare mine accordingly. My players have to be very careful because nothing is yet decided for us.”
