It’s interesting to hear about the qualifying match for CHAN 2014 between Mozambique and Angola. Despite the 1-1 draw in the second leg, Mozambique secured their place in the final phase of CHAN 2014 on the away goal rule, with the first leg ending 0-0 in Maputo.
In the match, Angola took an early lead with Guedes scoring in the 11th minute, but Mozambique responded with a goal from Diogo before halftime. Despite efforts from both teams in the second half, the score remained unchanged, leading to Mozambique’s qualification.
Mozambique becomes the 16th country to secure a spot in the final phase of CHAN 2014, joining other qualified teams from South Africa (organizing country), Burkina Faso, Burundi, Congo, Ethiopia, Gabon, Ghana, Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Nigeria, DR Congo, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.
The tournament is scheduled to take place from January 11 to February 1, 2014, with matches being held in various stadiums, including Cape Town Stadium, Athlone Stadium, Free State Stadium, and Peter Mokaba Stadium.
It’s always exciting to see the diverse representation of African countries in continental competitions.
