Despite the festive season, there will be no respite for Championship clubs as they continue to compete on Boxing Day, similar to the Premier League. Charlton, currently 17th after a challenging start to the season, and their player Cédric Evina believe that this period is crucial for turning their fortunes around.
Cédric Evina, a Cameroonian player for Charlton, emphasized the significance of the holiday period for clubs in the Championship. In an interview with Francefootball, he stated, “The holiday period is very important for clubs because they can get out of bad situations in the Championship or go under.”
Acknowledging the demanding schedule, Evina mentioned that he is accustomed to spending the holidays on the field rather than with family. Despite the challenges, he highlighted the importance of maintaining focus during this period.
While physical distance may keep players away from their families, Evina noted that they still have the opportunity to connect with loved ones over the phone. On match days, he shared that family members, including his girlfriend and parents, often attend the games.
Cédric Evina, 22 years old and trained at Arsenal, will be in action as Charlton faces Brighton on the 21st day of the Championship.
