Wydad Casablanca (WAC) received a boost ahead of the CAF Champions League final as their squad nears full fitness. According to sport.le360.ma, coach Faouzi Benzarti will soon have two key players available. Mohamed Ounajem, sidelined with a knee injury, resumed team training and will be assessed next week to determine his availability for the first leg against Espérance de Tunis on May 24 in Casablanca. Amin Tighazoui, who had been out with a fractured toe, has returned to normal training and is fit for Wydad’s upcoming Botola match against IRT. Both players were injured on April 18 during a 2-1 defeat to HUSA.
In addition to squad news, Wydad will now host the first leg of the final at their home ground, the Mohammed V Complex, following an official announcement of its reopening on May 19. Previously, the match had been scheduled for Rabat due to renovations at the stadium, which included upgrades to the pitch, stands, and surrounding areas. The second leg will take place on May 31 in Tunis. With the stadium reopening and key players nearing fitness, Wydad heads into the CAF Champions League final in stronger shape, ready to face the reigning champions on home soil.
