Champions League: We lost to a good team – Antoine Semenyo after Man City’s 3-0 loss to Real Madrid
Manchester City forward Antoine Semenyo acknowledged Real Madrid’s dominance but remains optimistic about overturning the deficit in the second leg.
The Premier League leaders fell 3-0 to the Spanish side in Wednesday’s first leg of the Champions League Round of 16. Federico Valverde’s first-half hat trick sealed a commanding victory for Real Madrid.
Manchester City came close to preventing a wider margin after Gianluigi Donnarumma conceded a penalty for a foul on Vinícius Júnior, but the Brazilian missed the chance.
Reflecting on his Champions League debut, the Ghana international said: “They are very good on transitions, and there were a couple of spaces in the middle of the park, and they exploited that.
“We just go back to the drawing board. I think the [defeat] brings us down to earth essentially.”
“They are a good team. We just go back to the drawing board and do what we need to do, and hopefully, on Tuesday, we can change it,” Semenyo added.
City will return to Premier League action against West Ham United before welcoming Real Madrid to the Etihad Stadium for the second leg on Tuesday, March 17.
