CAF Champions League: Stade Malien Arrives in Lubumbashi Believing in a Feat Against TP Mazembe
Stade Malien touched down in the Democratic Republic of Congo this Thursday, ahead of their crucial CAF Champions League round of 16 second-leg encounter against Tout Puissant Mazembe. The match is scheduled for Sunday at 3:30 p.m. (local time) at the TP Mazembe Stadium in Lubumbashi.
The Malian side travels with renewed optimism, bolstered by their fighting spirit in the first leg where they came back from two goals down to draw 2-2.
Club executive Ouro-Akondo Tanko shared the mood within the camp:
“The atmosphere is good and morale is at its peak.”
The delegation includes not only players and technical staff but also key members of the executive committee, highlighting the club’s commitment to this high-stakes fixture.
Zambian referee Janny Sikazwe will officiate the match, with compatriots Bruno Tembo and Amos Nanga Chalwe as assistant referees.
With the away goals rule in play, a draw with three or more goals or a win would see Stade Malien through to the group stage. TP Mazembe, however, remains a formidable force at home and will be aiming to assert their continental pedigree.
