CS Sfaxien Narrowly Lose First Leg of CAF Champions League Semi-Final Against AS Vita Club
CS Sfaxien suffered a 2-1 defeat away to AS Vita Club in the first leg of the CAF Champions League semi-final. Goals for AS Vita came from Mubele and Luvumbu, while Ali Maâloul scored the crucial away goal for Sfaxien.
Despite the loss, Ali Maâloul remained optimistic:
“It’s a good result! We knew the match would be tough. We had a bad quarter of an hour allowing the Congolese to score, but we reacted well by scoring to reduce the deficit.”
Coach Philippe Troussier shared his confidence ahead of the return leg:
“Our chances of qualifying remain intact.”
The decisive second leg will take place on Saturday, September 27, at Sfax’s Taieb Mhiri stadium.
