Chadi Riad joins Morocco camp after historic Conference League triumph with Crystal Palace
Morocco defender Chadi Riad will report to the national team camp on a high after helping Crystal Palace secure the UEFA Conference League title on Wednesday night.
The English club defeated Rayo Vallecano 1-0 in the final, with Jean Philippe Mateta scoring the decisive goal to hand Palace the first European trophy in the club’s history.
Riad produced an assured display at the heart of the defence, playing the entire match as Crystal Palace held firm to keep a clean sheet in a tense and closely contested encounter. The 22-year-old once again showed his composure on one of the biggest stages of his career.
The Moroccan international now turns his attention to the 2026 FIFA World Cup preparations, arriving in camp full of confidence ahead of the tournament set to take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Morocco will open their Group C campaign against Brazil on June 13 before taking on Scotland and Haiti in the remaining group matches.
Riad’s rise over the past two seasons has continued to attract attention. After progressing through Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy, the young defender made the move to Crystal Palace and quickly established himself as a key figure in the team’s backline.
Lifting a European trophy ahead of the World Cup marks another important milestone in Riad’s growing career, with the defender expected to play a major role for the Atlas Lions this summer
