Cercle Brugge close in on DR Congo star Afimico Pululu
Belgian side Cercle Brugge are pushing for the acquisition of DR Congo forward Afimico Pululu ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 27-year-old is set to become a free agent at the end of June after opting not to renew his contract with Polish club Jagiellonia Białystok. With his current deal officially expiring on 30 June, Pululu is now free to negotiate with interested clubs regarding a move ahead of the new season.
According to reports, Cercle Brugge have emerged as the frontrunners for his signature and are working intensively to complete the transfer. Discussions between the Belgian outfit and the player are believed to be at an advanced stage, with both parties reportedly moving closer to reaching a full agreement.
While no official announcement has been made, the prospect of Pululu joining the Belgian Pro League side is becoming increasingly realistic as negotiations continue to progress positively.
Pululu’s decision to leave Jagiellonia marks the end of a successful spell in Poland, where he established himself as one of the club’s most influential attacking players. Throughout the recently concluded campaign, the Congolese striker consistently delivered in front of goal, combining clinical finishing with creative contributions.
The forward enjoyed an impressive season, scoring 15 goals and providing five assists across all competitions. His performances played a crucial role in Jagiellonia’s attacking success and further enhanced his reputation as a reliable and versatile striker capable of making an impact at a higher level.
Known for his pace, physical presence and ability to operate across the front line, Pululu has attracted interest from several clubs thanks to his productivity and experience. His availability on a free transfer has only increased his appeal, offering interested teams the opportunity to secure an established goalscorer without paying a transfer fee.
For Cercle Brugge, landing a player of Pululu’s profile would represent a significant boost ahead of the new campaign. The Belgian club are keen to strengthen their attacking options and view the Congolese international as a player capable of adding both goals and experience to their squad.
A move to Belgium would also provide Pululu with a fresh challenge and an opportunity to test himself in a new league. The Belgian Pro League has become a popular destination for talented African players, offering a competitive environment and a strong platform for further career development.
As things stand, negotiations remain ongoing, but all indications suggest that Cercle Brugge are in a strong position to secure the striker’s signature. Should an agreement be finalised in the coming days, Pululu would arrive in Belgium after one of the most productive seasons of his professional career.
With 15 goals and five assists to his name this season, the Congolese attacker has proven his quality, and his next move will be closely watched as he prepares to take the next step in his football journey.
