JUNIOR KABANANGA SET TO JOIN FC ASTANA AFTER CERCLE BRUGES EXIT
Junior Kabananga will not remain with Cercle Bruges next season. Following the club’s relegation to Belgium’s second division, the Congolese international striker is set to move on, despite still having one year left on his contract.
According to Het Laatste Nieuws, Kabananga has already reached an agreement with FC Astana, the reigning Kazakhstani champions, who are also qualified for the second preliminary round of the upcoming UEFA Champions League.
While Zulte-Waregem has also shown interest in acquiring the 26-year-old, it appears that Astana has won the race for his signature. A move to Kazakhstan would offer the striker European competition exposure, a likely factor in his decision.
Kabananga, who has featured for DR Congo’s national team, will now look to revitalize his career on a continental stage.
