Ceramica Cleopatra showed no signs of slowing down as they powered past Petrojet with a confident 2-0 win at Petrosport Stadium on Monday in the fourth round of the Egyptian League.
The match remained tightly contested until the 73rd minute when Mohamed Reda broke the deadlock with a well-placed header. Just ten minutes later, Mahmoud Abdelhafeez doubled the lead, sealing the win for Ceramica in front of an energetic crowd.
Ceramica nearly added a third deep into stoppage time through South African striker Fakhri Lakay, but his effort was ruled offside.
Petrojet’s night took a turn for the worse just before halftime when Tawfiq Mohamed was shown a red card for a tough challenge on Islam Issa, reducing the visitors to ten men.
This latest result marked Ceramica’s third straight win over Petrojet this season, having already beaten them 4-1 in both the league and the Capital of Egypt Cup.
With the win, Ceramica climb to 30 points, holding sixth place. Petrojet remain in eighth with 25 points under coach Sayed Eid.
