Ceramica Cleopatra clarifies Ahmed Kendouci transfer rumors
Ceramica Cleopatra’s management has addressed recent speculation about their former player, Algerian Ahmed Kendouci, and his supposed transfer to Zamalek.
Contrary to reports, the club insists that there was never any agreement with Al Ahly to block Kendouci’s move to Zamalek or Pyramids. After a loan spell with Ceramica from Al Ahly, Kendouci was sold outright following a dispute with Al Ahly’s management, eventually departing for Lugano in Switzerland.
Club supervisor Moataz El-Batawi stated in a radio interview, “Ahmed Kendouci is a talented player and gave us great performances, but he is no longer in our plans after joining Lugano.”
El-Batawi further clarified, “Our relationship with all clubs is good, especially Zamalek, and we never prevented Kendouci from joining them. In reality, no direct talks happened about this issue.”
He also discussed the failed last-minute negotiations between Ceramica and Ahly for Ahmed Hani, and firmly rejected any notion of the club being used as a bridge between rival teams: “We completely refuse to be a pathway for any player to move between Al Ahly and Zamalek, or vice versa.” El-Batawi emphasized, “Whoever joins our club must truly want to play for Ceramica Cleopatra.”
