Central African Republic Seeks Second Friendly Amid FIFA Calendar Gap
Despite the ongoing crisis in the country, the Central African Republic (CAR) continues to push forward with its footballing ambitions. Following a friendly loss to Morocco in early October, the Fauves du Bas-Oubangui are actively searching for a second opponent for the upcoming FIFA international window in mid-November.
Speaking to centrafriquefootball.cf, national team coach Raoul Savoy explained:
“We are continuing to work on finding a friendly match for the international break in mid-November. We have some contacts and we really hope that one of them will come to fruition.”
Savoy, who holds Spanish and Swiss nationality, emphasized the importance of consistent competition and training camps:
“It is essential that the national team meets again before the ‘gap’ in FIFA dates until March 2015. One of the big differences we have noticed with our Moroccan opponents is cohesion. This habit of playing together is not developed through chit-chat or social media, but rather during training camps and regular international matches.”
With limited time and resources, the CAR federation is working urgently to secure a fixture that will help build team chemistry and readiness ahead of continental commitments.
